URBANDALE, Iowa (Jan.22, 2026) – Following the Iowa House’s approval of a bill restricting the use of eminent domain for pipeline projects, Tom Buis, CEO of the American Carbon Alliance, issued the following statement:
“It’s disappointing that the Iowa House chose to move this legislation forward. While other states are working collaboratively on pipeline infrastructure, Iowa risks advancing policies driven by fear rather than solutions that strengthen agriculture and rural communities.
“Carbon capture is about keeping Iowa agriculture competitive. Blocking infrastructure that opens new markets ultimately hurts the very farmers this Legislature should be supporting.”
