URBANDALE, Iowa (Jan.20, 2026) – The American Carbon Alliance released the following statement from CEO Tom Buis regarding the Iowa Senate proposals:
“Sen. Klimesh’s commonsense approach to carbon capture, one that avoids shutting the door on future infrastructure while respecting private property rights, is the right path forward. As other states continue to move ahead, the legislature should be focused on ways to strengthen Iowa’s agricultural economy and keeping farmers competitive.
“Many want to make this only a debate about pipelines, but it’s much bigger than that. Using Iowa biofuels in this process can deliver real value for corn growers and ethanol producers, strengthen rural economies, and position Iowa agriculture for long-term success. Carbon capture and sequestration is a critical part of making that possible. We appreciate the Senate’s willingness to engage on this issue with farmers in mind.”
