“We’re not your grandfather’s ethanol anymore”

O’BRIEN COUNTY, Iowa (KTIV) – Wind turbines dot the landscape in O’Brien County. Farmers here are not opposed to embracing new technology and innovation, which is why many of them have already signed on to Summit Carbon Solution’s Carbon Capture Pipeline.

“I always tell people, we’re not your grandfather’s ethanol anymore. We’ve improved our efficiency so much.”

Kelly Nieuwenhuis and agriculture go hand in hand.

“It’s a huge part of our economy in Iowa,” he said. “One in every four to five jobs, even in the US, is based on agriculture. And farmers are just 1% of that. And so, we create a lot of economy for the nation. And when we’re doing well, the economy is doing well.”
