American Carbon Alliance Statement on Farm to Fly Act

URBANDALE, Iowa (Nov. 13, 2023) – American Carbon Alliance CEO Tom Buis released the following statement today in response to the Farm to Fly Act being filed late last week:

“Just as bioethanol doubled farm income in the last two decades, Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) is the next step in bringing even more value to farmers nationwide. In order to fully realize the economic opportunities for farmers we need Carbon Capture and Sequestration to allow ethanol to be used as a feedstock to produce SAF.  In addition, the adoption of the most modern, most accurate carbon modeling GREET.  CCS, GREET, and SAF combined will increase farm income and rural economies.

“ACA supports the Farm to Fly act, and appreciates the work of U.S. Reps. Max Miller (OH-7), Mike Flood (NE-1), Angie Craig (MN-2), Brad Finstad (MN-1), Nikki Budzinski (IL-3), Jasmine Crockett (TX-30), Ashley Hinson (IA-2), and Randy Feenstra (IA-4), who brought this legislation forward.”

The American Carbon Alliance (ACA) is formed to be one unified voice for carbon capture pipelines, ethanol producers, landowners, farmers, construction trade workers and citizens that embrace this new energy future for America. Working together, this alliance will strengthen America’s agricultural economy, ensure a future marketplace for American produced liquid fuel and improve the environment for all.
